WNIT Public Television Education/Outreach is proud to be a recipient of both a 2007 and a 2006 Parenting Counts Outreach Grant from Talaris Research Institute and a 2005 train-the-trainer grant from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration.
Parenting Counts: A Focus on Early Learning, co-developed by Talaris and KCTS Seattle/Television, brings research on best parenting practices into parent's daily lives through a series of television spots and workshops. The goals of the program are to
- Stimulate greater awareness of early learning (birth to five years)
- Promote more effective parenting and caregivers techniques
- Enhance parent-child relationships
Outreach
How does 'Parenting Count' at WNIT?
Through community partnerships, train-the-trainer and parent workshops, on-air spots, and a lending library of children's books and training materials. There is no other job more important than raising healthy, happy, secure and competent children. Parenting Counts' simple 60 second on-air spots offer research-based information and tips to parents in language easy to understand.
