The Wilderness Warrior, Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America

by Douglass Brinkley

Join me and my guest Kathy Freese as we discuss Douglass Brinkley's "The Wilderness Warrior, Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America" and prepare some wilderness food for a warrior.

The Wilderness Warrior examines the life and achievements of our naturalist president, Theodore Roosevelt. Raising a Paul Revere-like alarm about American wildlife in peril: buffalo, manatees, antelope, egrets, he saved an entire species from extinction. Setting aside more than 230 million acres for posterity between 1901 and 1909, he made conservation a universal endeavor. Roosevelt knew how to champion conservation and growth for America. Let's talk to Kathy Freese about Theodore Roosevelt's contributions to our society while preparing a meal that Theodore would have enjoyed out in the wilderness.

This week we will also be visiting a special spot in Elkhart...The Wellfield Botanic Garden where efforts to preserve and enjoy are happening right here.
