Barrel Fever, Naked, Holidays on Ice, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim and Children Playing Before a Statue of Hercules: An Anthology of Outstanding Stories
This book is a hilarious collection of short stories about and written by satirist, David Sedaris. The stories reflect Sedaris’ experiences growing up in a witty, albeit quirky family as well as his sardonic and caustic reflections on life around him. This title is from one of the chapters where Sedaris writes screamingly funny accounts of learning French from a threatening French lady in Paris. Other chapters include Youth in Asia Dog, Go Carolina, Jesus Shaves, City of Light and Dark and Deux.
Guest host is Kim Clark, Emmy-nominated Artistic Director for the past two years at the Acorn Theatre in Three Oaks, Michigan. He worked in TV and theatre in Dallas, was a writer in training for Second City Theatre in Chicago.
I chose Kim to co-host the show with me because he could so easily appear in one of the book’s chapters and because he loves to cook and fears nothing, especially a television set. Kim loves anything zany and loves the unpredictable. Besides he is a great chef.
