To enjoy an Amy Sedaris dining experience, it’s important to develop a theme and follow through with the theme in your invitation, door decoration, table decoration, music and any activities for the party.  Developing a theme is foremost in Amy’s plan.  Should it be a Siesta Fiesta, a Halloween dinner in the dark, or a lumberjack lunch?

This weeks featured book

I LIKE YOU: HOSPITALITY UNDER THE INFLUENCE

by Amy Sedaris

Amy Sedaris is the sister of writer David Sedaris whose book, Me Talk Pretty One Day aired on Dinner and a Book in 2005. Amy's book is a collection of good information for the beginning cook, hilarious projects and decorating ideas. The book contains kitschy photos and illustrations. See pages 62, 124-5, 198-9, 220-21 and the last page of the Test Kitchen.

The author, tongue in cheek, lets us in on her secrets on how to be poised and prepared for entertaining. But be forewarned:  If you are easily offended, don’t read it. It’s naughty, hilarious and full of good recipes and entertaining suggestions.

For example did you ever think you’d serve a Halloween dinner in the dark?  Create plant holders out of panty hose?   Freshen up cheese balls for the next party?  Entertain a lumberjack? You will learn how to toss frantically and brown chicken until tanned.  So come on and meet my friend from the Acorn Theatre in Three Oaks, Michigan, Kim Clark.
