Jared Bernstein joined the Economic Policy Institute in 1992 where he directs the Institute's living standards programs. He is author of a new book, forthcoming in March: Crunch: If the Economy's Doing So Well, Why Do I Feel So Squeezed? He has also published extensively in popular and academic venues, including The New York Times, Washington Post, Philadelphia Enquirer, and the American Prospect. He is a contributor to the CNBC Financial News Network, blogs regularly for TPMCafe.com, and produces the new podcast, "Econocorner."

The panelists will address such issues as the Bear Stearns collapse; recession - fact or fiction; sales forecasts of big ticket items; $ 4 gallon gasoline prices; credit and the Fed; and how bad will things get before they get better.

This special edition of ECONOMIC OUTLOOK is a local companion program to the Economic Forecasting Summit held on March 27 at the Century Center in South Bend.
