backstory/1916: The Irish Rebellion is WNIT Public Television's three part companion series to the new documentary produced by the University of Notre Dame. Narrated by Liam Neeson, 1916: The Irish Rebellion was created and produced by Briona Nic Dhiarmada, a professor at the Keogh-Naughton Institute for Irish Studies at the University of Notre Dame. The documentary series was directed by directed by Ruan Megan and Pat Collins. WNIT's "backstory/" explores the making of the documentary series featuring interviews that were conducted in Dublin at some of the key sites of the rebellion and at the University of Notre Dame. Each half hour coincides with the documentary series, the progression of the rebellion and its aftermath.
