Named Gift Opportunities
The Capital Campaign's effort to upgrade and enhance WNIT's programming and broadcast facilities offers donors many opportuniities to link their names prominently with the station, its programs and its work. Supporters of WNIT can earn recognition with a naming gift to any of several areas. Some of which include the following areas:
I. Fund for Media in the Public Interest.
Public broadcasting represents a rare opportunity for civic engagement for the entire region. Media dedicated to the public interest can connect citizens with their leaders in a dialogue that solves regional problems and brings the community together. Funds designated in the area -
- Will pay for new technology and studio space that makes remote broadcast of community and local governemnt meetings possible
- Will fund meeting and conference rooms at WNIT equipped for live broadcast of community meetings
Naming and Recognition
Depending on the level of their gift, donors to the Fund for Media in the Public Interest will receive recognition in the WNIT facility and on-air on national or local news and public affairs programs. Specifically, named gift opportunities in the area include...
Studio $1,000,000
A magical place where Michiana stories are told and captured for the world to see be it on
television or via the Internet. A destination for an adventurous cub scout outing or town hall
meeting. The donor will receive studio credit on all original local programming.
Editing Suite $250,000
Spaces that include editing bays, a sound booth and digital equipment to bridge the gap from program conception to delivery - where multi-hour video becomes polished TV segments fit for Michiana viewers.
Technical Support Center $250,000
The backbone fo Public Media 2.0. This climate controlled space will house the electronics that keep the WNIT signal available to every Michiana home. Hardware and software combine to provide more content, through both broadcast and internet channels, at more times than ever before.
Conference Room $100,000
Where the staff meets to brainstorm and collaborate on ways to advance art and culture,
citizenship and education in Michiana through the power of public media.
II. Fund for Training and Education
WNIT has always valued its role as a leader in the area of training and education. In the coming years, WNIT is excited about expanding this role in the community through the opportunities that are possible following our relocation. Funds designated in this area -
- Will pay for new technology and studio space that makes remote broadcast of training programs to workplaces and schools possible
- Will pay for new technology and studio space where broadcast/webcast of Ready-to Learn and children's programming to local schools and day care centers originate
- Will fund Life-Long Learning Center at WNIT

Life-Long Learning Center $250,000
Making programs matter. Here is where WNIT adds value to our programs. Preview screenings, workshops with program hosts, or training for educators and parents all take place in this multi-function space-fully realizing our mission of community education in the most inclusive sense of the word.
Education Resource Room $250,000
Teaching the teachers. This space is dedicated to the fundamental mission of WNIT. The education and outreach staff use this suite to create and enhance content for use on-air as well as online. Collaboration with educators throughout Michiana will provide new opportunities to children in all the communities WNIT serves.
III. Fund for Culture and the Arts
When people think of WNIT, the station's support of culture and the arts undoubtedly come to mind. And while the resume of artistic or cultural events the station has either sponsored or developed is indeed impressive, it pales in comparison to the plans WNIT has in this area in the near future. Funds designated in this area -
- Will pay for new technology and studio space that makes remote broadcast of local arts programming possible
- Will fund the Green Room, where television guests wait before an on-air appearance
- Will fund the Production Suite

Production Suite $250,000
From writing scripts to booking guests to producing rough cuts, the production suite is
where the work behind the magic happens.
Green Room $150,000
This relaxing space is where first time television guests and seasoned veterans prepare for their close-ups. The donor will have a continual presence in front of a who's who of notable citizens who serve as guests on a variety of local programs.
IV. General Building Fund
Obviously, support for WNIT need not be designated into one of the aforementioned categories as there are areas that are critical to the future success of the station - regardless of the specific department or mission.

Public Media Center $1,000,000
A community communication center dedicated to media in the public interest that not
only broadcasts trusted programming, but also creates an environment for creativity
and partnerships to flourish. This is a wonderful opportunity to be forever attached to
the legacy of WNIT Public Television.
Lobby $500,000
A warm and welcoming invitation to all visitors who come to expand their skills, discuss
community issues and share their talents. Help build the ultimate first impression.
Engineering Suite $250,000
A suite of offices and a shop where the electronic brain trusts of the station gather to ensure
that the state-of-the-art facility continues to run smoothly.
Board Room $100,000
Where community leaders convene to envision the future of Michiana and collaborate on
ways to make the vision a reality.
Within general guidelines, WNIT will work with donors to design an individualized package reflecting the size of the gift and the donors' desires for recognition. Forms of acknowledgement range from donor listings and inclusion at campaign events to on-air credit and permanent signage related to in WNIT's new studios.
