    Project based learning is this week’s theme on Education Counts Michiana. Find out how projects and people are coming together at Dismas House. Niles New Tech is teaching students to think through projects in teams. The Innovation Academy at Lincoln Junior High in Plymouth is teaching middle school students the hands on approach to learning. South Bend Community Schools are adapting the classroom as a third teacher concept with success.

      The Dismas House residents welcome college students in yearly, to help around the house. They not only help by building pantries and other miscellaneous things, but they also build life long friendships. This internship program helps the students gain volunteer experience, and also provides them and the residents, a different perspective. The purpose of the internship program is to give an alternative view than what they are used to, as well as establish the connection that they are all on similar life paths. Just trying to build a better life for themselves, and those around them.
