The statistics can be, and are, very alarming. every nine seconds a student in america becomes a dropout; 75% of all state prison inmates are high school dropouts. Conversely, 81% of all high school dropouts surveyed by gallup, indicate they would have stayed in school if the subjects were more relevant to real life or more relevant to business related topics. Studies show that less than 25% of all high school students are offered a business or entrepreneurial course by the time they graduate. This is scary because only 25% of all high school students go on to earn a college degree. Gallup surveys indicate that 7 out of every 10 high school students want to start their own business or learn how to operate or run a business. Finally, the same gallup study indicated that the number one motivator for youth propensity to commit crime was their desire for money and material things and number 2 was peer pressure, as well as, a lack of after school programs that created real value in their life. However, locally there are many positive programs that are taking place, with the help of community leaders and organizations. Today we will hear about a new creative program that is attempting to address all of those challenging statistics we just heard about.
