For La Casa de Amistad, keeping their students reading is their main goal during our extended home stay. That's why they are depending on the internet to keep them on track with their literacy goals. The educators read books to the students virtually (in English and in Spanish), to maintain the connection with the kids, as well as prepare educational packets and resources for the parents to keep them focused while at home.

Through 1000 Books Before Kindergarten children are given the building blocks and the love of reading necessary to help when they start school. It also serves as a way for parents to bond with their young children through reading stories to them. Those who take part say it's a fun and easy way to give their kids a jumpstart to reading.
