Kwanzaa is an African American Holiday promoting cultural awareness among people of African origin around the world. The roots of the seven day celebration are firmly grounded in the rich cultural heritage of Africa. Its necessity was born through a pervasive lack of self-identity in many African American communities. The St. Joseph County Public Library hosted the event which welcomes the community in education and participation.
