Getting students to start thinking about their future careers can often seem difficult. One of the ways schools are helping is by offering pathways based programs to give students the chance to get some real world hands on experience. We travel to Wawasee High School in Syracuse, Indiana to see some of the programs students are offered.

      Drew Shearin was a very talented teen. He mastered multiple instruments, served as drum major for the Knox Redskin Brigade and reached the status of an award-winning composer teen, all by the age of 17. Unfortunately he was taken from us in the fall of 2011. However that hasn't stopped him from gifting us with the wonderful sounds of music. Drew's Gift of Music is an organization that provides instruments and training to rising musicians. This is a legacy that Drew started before his passing, because he wasn't just gifted, he was a gift giver.

      Children’s minds are like wet clay, easily moldable. Unfortunately that leads them to also pick up less desirable traits from those around them. Racism isn’t an easy topic to talk to a child about however racism is taught. Just like you can teach a child to be racist, you can also teach them against it. In order for society to function at its best, it has to free itself of prejudices for different races and that means starting the teaching of acceptance and inclusiveness of other races at their most vulnerable mind state.
