About
The Veldman family is a prominent family in South Bend, Indiana, known for their success in the auto parts business, founding Tire Rack, and their significant philanthropic efforts in the community, particularly in mental health care. Peter Veldman immigrated from the Netherlands, survived Nazi occupation during WWII, served in the Korean War, and built numerous businesses with his wife Wilma and family before starting Tire Rack in 1979.
The family's generosity is demonstrated by their gift to the University of Notre Dame to establish the Wilma and Peter Veldman Family Psychology Clinic and their induction into the South Bend Community Hall of Fame.
The Legends of Michiana documentary series focuses on people and organizations that have been influential to the growth and development of the Michiana area.
