Educational Engagement Assistant

PBS Michiana-WNIT in South Bend, IN seeks a part-time Educational Engagement Assistant to increase our engagement with educators, families, and community partners in Elkhart, LaGrange, and Noble Counties. You will work closely with educational stakeholders in these counties to integrate PBS’s high-quality educational content into local communities, ensuring it meets the needs of children, families, and educators in Elkhart, LaGrange, and Noble Counties. Your efforts will help enhance educational outcomes, increase community engagement, and support the mission of PBS Michiana-WNIT to inspire, inform, and educate.

You will report to and collaborate with WNIT’s Educational Engagement Liaison. You will serve as a primary contact between PBS Michiana-WNIT and regional educational organizations in Elkhart, LaGrange, and Noble Counties to provide information, training, support, consultation, and resources utilizing WNIT, PBS, and other services to meet educational goals. This is a hybrid position, requiring time in the office, at community events, and working from home.

As a part-time Educational Engagement Assistant, you will:

  • Be PBS Michiana-WNIT’s “ambassador” to educational organizations in Elkhart, LaGrange and Noble Counties.
  • Serve as WNIT’s content expert for all educational resources offered by PBS, such as PBS KIDS, PBS LearningMedia, and the Michigan Learning Channel.
  • Conduct site visits to regional educational organizations.
  • Foster awareness and effective utilization of WNIT resources.
  • Recommend and develop materials for distribution.
  • Develop and maintain cordial working relationships with educational organizations in WNIT’s service area.
  • Provide individual or group professional development sessions.
  • Travel within the region for meetings, workshops, training sessions, and conferences.
  • Maintain mailing lists of organizations and key contacts.
  • Engage in personal development to ensure up-to-date knowledge of WNIT/PBS educational resources.
  • Collaborate with WNIT departments to maximize the use of resources and share knowledge gained from educational contacts.
  • Promote overall goodwill toward PBS Michiana-WNIT and PBS KIDS.
  • Make presentations to share with teachers, parents, and community members about WNIT and PBS educational materials.
  • Represent WNIT at selected events to promote PBS Michiana-WNIT, PBS KIDS, PBS LearningMedia, and other educational resources offered.
  • Handle multiple tasks, priorities, and other duties as assigned.

  • Must have a flexible schedule to accommodate daytime, evening, and weekend events
  • Must have access to a reliable Internet connection, and ensure efficient and secure use of technology to access resources and maintain data files

Education: Some post-secondary coursework in early childhood education, elementary education, or related fields, or relevant experience

Compensation: $20.00/hour
