Neshnabé Mbokén

It is important for tribal youth to be exposed to books written by indigenous authors and have a chance to visualize themselves in stories. The Lark Comedy Institute
Founded over 10 years ago, The Lark Comedy Institute is the only organization focused solely on bringing improv comedy education and experience to the South Bend, Chicago & New York areas. The institute is an all-inclusive organization and has worked with many students of all ages including the neurodiverse. Improvisational training helps students learn adaptive behaviors in school and the workplace.

Great Lakes Angler Diary
The Great Lakes Angler Diary, a citizen science project funded through the Michigan Sea Grant, encourages anglers around Michigan to track the fish they catch and input data into an app. This project is allowing everyday anglers to contribute to science as well as encourage them to learn about the health of the fish and river ecosystems around them and why it is important to promote the sustainability of rivers. Girls Rock IT
Just a third of the workforce in science, technology, engineering and math are women - and men outnumber women studying many STEM fields in college. The Whirlpool Foundation partnered with the Michigan Council on Women and Technology to present “Girls Rock IT” for girls in grades four through eight. The objective is to spark the technology interest in young girls to demonstrate how advantageous a tech career would be.

South Bend Community School Corporation’s PreK Program Literacy Night
Studebaker Center in South Bend held its first annual Literacy night for Pre-K families. The event was a way to celebrate the end of Pre-K through interactive fun, learning activities and story times. Each student left with a free dinner and books. The event was also an opportunity to connect with parents on how to further aid their children with literacy and all things learning and growing.

Stable Grounds Equine Therapy
Stable Grounds is a nonprofit that has partnered with Middlebury Community Schools to provide free equine therapy for children in school. By interacting with gentle and understanding horses and donkeys while working through problems and frustrations, kids are better able to process their thoughts and build towards solutions.
