Education Counts Michiana features four educational initiatives showcasing community engagement. Warsaw Community Schools are working on social emotional learning for students and teachers. The public was invited to watch three teams of architecture students participate in a two day mural-drawing event presented by Scenographia at the University of Notre Dame School of Architecture. Maker spaces are on the rise and a visit to Make South Bend explores the possibility of design. Michigan students are filling the skills gap by learning CNC skills in the classroom and on the job.

The University of Notre Dame School of Architecture hosted a live-drawing marathon. Architecture students spent two days hand drawing large murals of South Bend as it was in 1920. The not-for-profit Scenographia presented the event to celebrate the city and preserve the dying art of hand drawing in architecture. The public was invited to watch the creation of the murals over two days.
