Valley Connects\' 31 Day Mental Wellness Challenge
Tippecanoe Valley Middle School in Akron is taking an alternative approach to ensuring the well being of students and staff. Not through a gym class, health class, or healthy diet. They are challenging their school community to prioritize their own mental health, for 31 days. It takes 21 days to build a habit, but they are taking an addition 10 to make sure that mental health is in tip top shape. They want to ensure that students and staff are more clear minded as they proceed with their daily routines during this prolonged at home stay.

SBCSC Adult Educations Goes Online
Education is a vital source to the overall cognitive well-being of an individual. This applies to more than just K-12, but also adults who wish to expand their abilities. It is never too late to pursue an education, and to build a better life for yourself. However with the world trying its best to grasp on to structure, many adults are feeling discouraged from pursuing education in this climate. The SBCSC Adult Education program wants its students to feel at ease on their journey towards graduation, with an easy to use online program, and passionate educators.

Youth of The Year - TeKeidra Masters
Being chosen as Youth of The Year is one of the highest honors that a member could receive at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Benton Harbor. In order to be acknowledged members must embody the characteristics of a leader, both within the club and in the outside world. 17 year old high school senior TeKeidra Masters did just that, all while balancing jobs, sports, community involvement, all while enduring teenage growing pains. She tells us how she accomplished the feat, what it means to her, future plans, and how others can achieve what she did.

Music Together® offered a way for young children and their parents to bond through music. But when in person classes were closed down to observe social distancing, the teachers worked to move their classes to an online format. We explore how the music plays on.

Cooking with Math
A major challenge to distance learning is how to make lessons interesting and exciting. To spice up at home lessons, a fourth grade teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in Plymouth demonstrated how math can be applied to cooking. We explore the sums of their work.

Elkhart Public Library's Summer Reading Challenge
The Elkhart Public Library's mission is to keep the spirit of reading alive with it's reading community. So, they are continuing their Summer Reading Program, with even larger prizes this year, and an app to keep children and teens up to date with their progress. However, for those involved, reading was something that they did freely, without any need for an incentive. The Elkhart Summer Reading Challenge is just a way for them to further challenge themselves, and for them to have a reason to keep doing what they love.

Kindergartners at Akron Elementary were able to virtually be part of baby chicks hatching, an annual spring program at the school. Premier Arts in Elkhart has adapted to teaching, training and entertaining from afar. Students struggling with homework can call for assistance to the Retired Teachers Help Hotline. Enjoy a virtual field trip and take part in a scavenger hunt online at the Niles History Center.

Call & Learn Hotline
Schools may have gone from physical to digital, but all students may need extra help from time to time. For those students without Internet access, the Indiana Retired Teachers Association created a homework help hotline to aide any student who needs it.

Part of Kindergarten is learning through hands on experience. One of those experiences for the kindergartners at Akron Elementary School is the hatching of baby chicks. We take a look at how even though schools were closed, the activity continued.

Premier Arts' Online Content
Like many other organizations during this time Premier Arts, the Resident Theatre of the Lerner Performing Arts Center, has to adapt the ways that it keeps its participants involvement. And like many other organizations, they are going online based as well. Premier Arts is now holding online based courses for a variety of the arts, as they believe the arts are just as vital to the community as any other resource.

Niles Historical Center's Online Center
Students at Niles High School are given the chance to get hands on and project based learning through Niles New Tech. Students taking part in this program are held to the same standards as other students, but complete their work through the use of technology and in group settings similar to a working environment.

Plymouth High School Virtual Auditions
With mandated quarantines affecting the way we function in the world, improvisation is the only way we can put our best foot forward during unprecedented times. At Plymouth High School, the show must go on, with the choir continuing to place auditions. However these auditions are all virtual. This gives the teacher and students the chance to change the dynamic of what auditions have to be.

At Home Learning on the World Channel
The World Channel is full of resources and programs for students and teachers to stay educated and inspired from home. With many people being stuck at home, World Channel is dedicating hours between 12-5, to at home learning for grades 6-12.
