Finding the right career path isn't always the easiest thing for high school students to do. There are plenty of college fairs, but what about students looking to go directly into the workforce. To provide a way to present those options, the South Bend Regional Chamber of Commerce partnered up with regional businesses and factories to create Manufacturing Day.

Music Together® at Goshen College
All children are capable of being musical. That's why places like the Goshen College Music Center provide Music Together® classes. This research based program uses songs and movement to not only teach young children about music, but also gain confidence in themselves. These lessons also translate into other areas of development that will come into play later in a child's life.

SoGal Global Pitch Competition
Historically, men have always outweighed women in the corporate and business world. But, times are changing! SoGal Foundation in partnership with Startup South Bend- Elkhart is hosting the largest global startup competition for women and diverse entrepreneurs. The international pitch competition consists of over 25 regional rounds in SoGal chapters in cities across five continents, including New York, San Francisco, Austin, Chicago, London, Berlin, Shanghai, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney, Nairobi, Johannesburg, and others. The finalists from each regional round will travel to San Francisco to attend SoGal’s 3-day immersive educational bootcamp for guaranteed facetime in front of top-tier Silicon Valley investors, as well as participate in curated educational programming, unparalleled 1:1 mentorship, press exposure, and compete on the global level to win investment capital.

Indiana Dunes Service Corps Program
Less than 40 miles east of the Chicago metro, a group of 11 young leaders has committed to the preservation of Indiana Dunes National Park. The leaders are supported by a nationwide network of service corps programs that contribute tens of thousands of service hours to maintaining landscapes and improving visitor experience in dozens of parks. All members dedicated to conserving this national park will receive on-the-job training, develop leadership and teamwork skills, and experience a range of public lands career paths through their participation in the service corps program.

This week on Education Counts we continue our probe into mental health by looking at the positive role of mentors and easing the stigma that is associated with mental health issues. We sat in on an acting class at the South Bend Civic Theatre that is designed for middle school students and look at how learning to act can be a great teacher. St. Patrick\'s County Park presents a program for preschool families acquainting kids and nature and the benefits therein. We witness the work of Grace College engineering students and how they\'ve profoundly watched their research change a life.

There has always been a stigma associated with Mental Health, with many individuals often refusing to seek help out of fear of judgement from others. When Marla Godette noticed this in her community she decided to found Mentoring Moments as a way to provide mentoring to individuals in need and also normalize the conversation surrounding mental health.

RV and Park Model RV manufacturing are at the heart of the RV industry. While RV sales are increasing, the number of proficient, well-trained RV technicians has declining. To address the need for more skilled workers in the profession The RV Technical Institute launched in Elkhart with plans to train the next generation of RV Mechanics.

The Irish Figure Skating Club
The Irish Figure Skating Club exists to promote the sport of figure skating by encouraging each skater to grow and achieve their own personal goals. Developing lifelong skills along with learning to figure skate is a crucial part of what they do at the skating club. Helping students to become more confident, persistent, and focused.

Lilly Center K-12 Programs
The Lilly Center for Lakes & Streams serves as a place for college students to study how water systems work. But through its programs geared toward younger students allows them to pass on that knowledge to the next generation. Through various K-12 programs, the Lilly Center teaches these young kids to care for natural bodies of water in our region.

Art Education Classes
When it comes to art, it's never too late to try something new. At the Krasl Art Center in St. Joseph, Michigan they work to inspire meaningful change as well as strengthen their community through the visual arts. These programs invite the young and the young at heart to come in and create in ways they may never have done before.

The organization Mental Health Awareness of Michiana gathered teachers, counselors, and people who work with students on a regular basis to engage in a discussion about Mental Health, School Discipline, and the School to Prison Pipeline. The Discussion consisted of 3 keynote speakers and gave educators in the community to chance to express and share their ideas about a growing issue that many local students face.

The Mary Morris Leighton Impact Series
Every year Beacon Community Impact hosts The Mary Morris Leighton Impact series where they work to address a certain issue in our community. This year's impact series addresses mental. Community Members are invited to view a free screening of the documentary Suicide: The Ripple Effect throughout the month and at the end of the series member will get the chance to meet with Kevin Hines the man whom the documentary was inspired by. This series of events provides resources for people in the community to get help and help others.
