Education Counts Michiana showcases some of the best programs and initiatives in education. We're always looking for ideas in teaching and learning that range from pre-k to lifelong learning. This week we visited the Learning Gardens in Elkhart, EdTech in the Bend, Dial-A-Story in LaPorte and Project Lead the Way in Berrien Springs.

Education Counts this week features stories about seeing, saving, studying and searching. Kindness to Prevent Blindness provides prescription glasses to children at school to prepare them for learning. Project Impact provides financial literacy classes teaching students to help make their money work for them. Proteus is taking students from farm labor and placing them in professional internships to set them on career tracks in their desired field. Students at Cassopolis Public Schools are earning dual credit and certifications in high school.
