  Education Counts Michiana this week features stories about programs and initiatives that are making an impact in our region. Junior Chefs South Bend is a profound after school program at Jackson Middle School. Students learn how to follow recipes, cook and provide nutritious meals for their families. We showcase a high ability program at New Prairie High School which engages and challenges students. The newly launched CTE program through South Bend Community School Corporation allows students to learn about a career in aviation. A gathering of high school superintendents in Elkhart County paved the way for collaboration and sharing ideas and sharing best practices.

With that expansion, the manufacturing workers of tomorrow are going to need to get a jumpstart on learning about them. Students at Goshen High School are getting that chance to learn about those advancements and get hands on training for future careers through the school's very own manufacturing academy.
