Meet the newest member of the Potawatomi Zoo family! On this week's Experience Michiana, Courtney gets an adorable introduction to the zoo's newest arrival—a red panda cub affectionately known for now as "Big Red"!
Courtney even gets the incredible opportunity to meet and hold this tiny bundle of fur while learning why carefully managed breeding programs are so important for the future of endangered species.
Big Red and mom are both wonderful examples of what can happen when dedicated conservation programs, expert care, and lots of love come together. The Potawatomi Zoo staff work hard to give these animals the best possible start, and this little cub is already stealing hearts!

History comes to life on this week's Experience Michiana! In celebration of the 250th birthday of the United States, The History Museum is taking a look back at the people and stories that shaped our region.
The exhibit “First People, First Settlers: Indiana's Interwoven Roots” explores the early history of our area, from the Potawatomi and other Indigenous peoples to early settlers, trading posts, and the communities that began to develop here.
Featuring fascinating artifacts and stories, the exhibit offers a chance to discover the many interconnected roots of Indiana's history. The exhibit is open through January 3rd, so make plans to explore it and learn more about the history right here in our own backyard!

History, heritage, and powerful stories take center stage on this week's Experience Michiana.
On Saturday, August 8th at 2:00 PM, The History Museum will host a special lecture exploring the history of the Underground Railroad in our area and the remarkable story of the Ampy family.
Two descendants of the Ampy family, Brother Sage Gillam and Rev. Dr. Michael Nabors, will share their family’s history and help shed light on the people and stories that were part of the fight for freedom in our region.
It's an opportunity to learn, remember, and celebrate Black history through the voices of those whose families lived it.
