One of the places Kelly has always wanted to visit was Lavender Hill Farm in Niles, MI. She and Courtney made the trip and discovered a scenic and peaceful setting with lavender you can pick yourself. They also have a gift shop filled with lavender products, many made right there.

This Friday there will be a big celebration in downtown Nappanee as Friday Fest is back July 9th. This month the focus is on the arts. Irish Dave had a chance to talk with Jessica Flores from Visit Nappanee to find out just what visitors can expect to experience when they visit. There will be live music, food from vendors and food trucks, a performance from the Lee Anne Stewart Dance School, children’s activities, an arcade trailer, and a community mural that you can help create.

Farming has been a part of this area since settlers first moved here. And for so long farming looked the same. You worked the land and produced a harvest. But places like Pure Green Farms is starting to change the way we look at farming. On the South Side of South Bend they have a 3.5 acre greenhouse facility raising greens for local restaurants and grocery stores. It’s a completely organic system and it doesn’t have to be shipped across the country, so it saves on fuel and freshness.
