Make a simple syrup. Stir 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a saucepan. Simmer and stir occasionally until the sugar is dissolved. Pour into a heatproof container and refrigerate.
Boil 2 cups water and remove from heat. Add one large tea bag, or two standard-size tea bags. Steep 5-7 minutes.
Pour into heat-proof pitcher with 1 ½ cups cold water. Add ½ cup simple syrup. Stir. Serve over ice.
