The Grace Learning Center is an organization in Michigan City that strives, to help people overcome obstacles in life, one of the biggest being homelessness. They do this by teaching classes on cooking, Alcoholics Anonymous, mental health, anger management and they also provide a computer lab to help look for jobs as well. They believe that teaching their clients how to elevate their lives, has a far lasting impact on their individual lives, rather than quick fixes.

Many libraries have summer reading programs, however the public library in Kewanna, Indiana has their own spin on things. Not only are they providing children through teens great reading materials, they are also providing them with fun arts and crafts kits, to help their minds stay imaginative throughout the summer. Literacy is a passion of their workers, because they believe it is fundamental to their overall character development.

YouthBuild provides skills training for low income and even out of school students. Through the rebuilding of houses, playgrounds and community centers, these students have the opportunity to earn their high school diploma or GED while learning construction trades skills. We head to Benton Harbor to see how a group rehabbed a house with these new skills.
