Episode #1202 - Sherlock Holmes

Hello and welcome to One Book, One Michiana in partnership with the St. Joe County Public Library.  Today we’ll discuss “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes” by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.  Stay tuned as Doug Farmwald of the Elkhart Red Cross and I discuss three of the short stories while preparing a 19th century English meal for our famous detective on Dinner and a Book.

Did you ever wonder what Sherlock Holmes and his friend and sidekick, Watson, dined on while discussing and solving intricate mysteries?  Did you ever wonder what English people were preparing at the time?  Three short stories, “The Adventure of the Beryl Coronet, “The Copper Beeches” and “The Adventure of the Noble Bachelor” give us some insight as to the simple but epicurean life of Sherlock Holmes.  Join me and my guest, Doug Farmwald as we prepare a stimulating drink for Sherlock, and then move on to Bubble and Squeak, Dandelion  Salad, Gooseberry Fool and a delicious stilton cheese accompanied by a noble sherry.
